Massage therapy is part of a traditional holistic system of healing methods that started about 5,000 years ago.
It has been shown to help relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce stress, increase mobility, improve recovery of soft tissue injuries, and many more. There are several types of massage that focus on different parts of the body and are used for different symptoms and diseases. At the White Crane Clinic, we have two great massage therapists who both specialize in different types of massage to better offer our patients a wide variety of treatments.
A therapeutic massage is a gentle type of full body massage and is also the most popular and widely used. It is a great option for those who are new to massage, have a lot of tension, and are looking for a relaxing experience. It can help release muscle tension, promote circulation, and relieve stress.
Deep Tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage uses more pressure than a therapeutic massage and is a great option if you suffer from chronic muscle tension and pain, anxiety, and extremely tight muscles. This massage is combined with myofascial release to relieve soft tissue restrictions. This is great for patients looking who suffer from chronic pain, fibromyalgia, post-injury recovery, and headaches due to severe neck tension.
Craniosacral massage is a unique form of massage and can be used for many different reasons. It is done by manually applying gentle pressure to manipulate the skeleton and connective tissues. It can be done on both adults and children and is a great option for patients looking for overall balance, health, and wellbeing. It is typically recommended for those suffering from chronic health problems and illnesses.
Sports Massage is typically a combined version of deep tissue and stretching. This is a great option for athletes and patients who work out to help stretch and elongate their muscles while reducing the lactic acid build-up.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Lymphatic drainage is a specific technique done to help eliminate swelling and promote circulation and fluid elimination in the lymphatic system. It is often used for patients who have cardiovascular or vein issues and can also be done to eliminate pain from the swelling process.
Prenatal massage is a therapeutic massage used to help relieve pain, tension, and stress during pregnancy. It usually begins around 20 weeks of pregnancy and can continue until delivery. Massage has been shown to not only reduce the discomfort for expecting mamas but also expedite the delivery and recovery process of labor.
Massages are often done in 30 minutes, 60 minute, or 90 minute time allocations.
